Juliet Gerrard The 48th Lorne Conference on Protein Structure and Function 2023

Juliet Gerrard

Juliet trained at Oxford University and moved to Aotearoa in 1993 where her career has included roles at the University of Canterbury and Auckland, as well as Plant and Food Research and Callaghan Innovation. Juliet’s passion for fundamental and applied protein science has led her down many rabbit holes which she will traverse in this lecture. She will also reflect on how this meandering path led to her appointment in 2018 as the Prime Minister’s Chief Science Advisor, and what it is like to provide advice to the Prime Minister on a wide range of topics, including a volcanic eruption and a pandemic.
